NEENAH INNOVATION CONTINUES WITH INTRODUCTION
OF NEW HEAT TRANSFER PAPERS

Four New Products Available for Offset and Desktop Printing of
Images on Apparel

Date: October 13, 2008
Location: Alpharetta, GA

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (October 13, 2008) -- Neenah Paper’s 2008 innovations continue with the launch of two new heat transfer papers for desktop digital printing of images on apparel made of cotton, poly, blends, Lycra and other synthetic fiber.  IMAGE CLIP™ Heat Transfer Papers for Ink Jet, and JET-PRO® for Active Wear Heat Transfer Papers follow on the heels of the company’s August 2008 introduction of IRON MAN™ Offset Heat Transfer Paper for Light Fabrics and IRON MAN™ Offset Heat Transfer Paper for Dark Fabrics, developed for large volume offset printable heat transfer and home applications.

“These Neenah products offer innovative ways for printers, merchants, distributors and graphic designers to build their business in the design, manufacture and sale of decorated

t-shirts,” explains Gerry Rector associate director, Heat Transfer Papers for Neenah Paper, noting that the decorated t-shirt market sells nearly 11 billion shirts per year at a retail cost of $20-40 and a production cost of $3-7.

IMAGE CLIP™ was created to work with the relatively inexpensive ink jet and laser printers, even low cost laser printer can be used to create the negative image.  The specialty niche for this product is pastel colors, artwork, figures and messages that would require plotter cutter applications. The finished apparel can withstand many wash and dry cycles with good color retention and no bursts or cracks.

JET-PRO® for Active Wear Heat Transfer Papers are ideal for the adult and children’s athletic wear market.  The papers are ink jet printable and provide excellent color on poly, blends  and other synthetic fibers.  They do not crack or form a film.  They have excellent stretch, excellent wear and our longest lasting washability for synthetic fibers.

IMAGE CLIP™ and JET-PRO® are both targeted for the professional T-shirt maker using desk top imaging.

IRON MAN™ Offset Heat Transfer Papers are for targeted for high volume opportunities and offer the speed and cost efficiency of traditional offset printing.  The heat transfers can be produced using vegetable based inks. The transfer can be kiss cut and is then peeled from the backer and pressed onto the shirt with either a hand iron or a heat press.

“The almost constant change in fashion trends, printing technologies and entrepreneurs’ desires for the latest innovation require a continuous stream of new products and Neenah is doing its best to be on the cutting edge,” explains Gerry Rector, associate marketing director for Neenah Paper.

Neenah’s new heat transfer papers also boast an impressive environmental record.  The base substrate is CLASSIC CREST® Paper.  This premium bond base paper is FSC-certified (SW-COC-000885), Green e-certified (made with renewable energy) and manufactured Carbon Neutral, as defined by the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX).  Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification ensures that the standards and guidelines of certification are met from the forest to the finished product.

IMAGE CLIP™ for Ink Jet Heat Transfer is available for immediate shipment.  IRON MAN™ Offset Heat Transfer Papers are made to order and are typically ready for shipment in six to eight weeks.  Samples of IMAGE CLIP™ and IRON MAN™ are available upon request.  JET-PRO® for Active Wear will be ready for shipment in January 2009.
